I was fortunate to attend "art week" at Great Spruce Head Island, the summer residence of Fairfield and Eliot Porter. I experimented with both representational and abstract approaches using paint and collage. My motivation was Fairfield Porter's reduced detail and use of color in his incredible body of work from this place. I was looking to build a personal technique using that idea of limiting detail and surprising color that began on the porch at Great Spruce Head where Fairfield painted and resonates with all my work to date.
